We hope you can join the Roosevelt Jazz Band on March 15th at 7pm at the Paramount Theatre at Starbucks 24th Annual Hot Java Cool Jazz concert. The best way to buy tickets (no surcharge!) is directly from our local Starbucks store at Roosevelt Square (6417 Roosevelt Way NE). 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales at the Roosevelt Square Starbucks will directly benefit our school’s music program. Enjoy a flat white or americano while you’re there! If you can’t make it in to the Roosevelt Square Starbucks, you can also get tickets online at STG Presents. (A portion of the proceeds from STG online tickets sales will go to Roosevelt, too.) With Roosevelt, Garfield, Mountlake Terrace, Mount Si, and Edmonds-Woodway High Schools sharing the stage, you know it’s going to be a great evening of jazz!

Congratulations to Director Scott Brown and the students of Jazz Band I! They will have the honor of playing in the Starbucks Hot Java Cool Jazz concert at the Paramount Theater on Friday, March 15th, along with Mountlake Terrace, Garfield, Mount Si, and Edmonds Woodway. Tickets are not yet on sale; details on how to purchase tickets will be posted in January. For now, save the date! We hope to see you there for this swinging evening of jazz. A huge thank you to Starbucks for their sponsorship of this event, which raises tens of thousands of dollars for jazz education in Seattle, year after year. Time for a Peppermint Mocha…

We hope you have your tickets to Hot Java, Cool Jazz at the Paramount Theater this Friday evening, because it looks like the show is close to selling sold out! Thanks to you all for buying up all the tickets, and thanks to Starbucks for donating ALL proceeds to the five participating schools.

And there’s more! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who pulled together to make the Roosevelt Jazz Gala a tremendous success. We were honored to have alumnus Jumaane Smith present. His performance was electrifying, his words deeply moving. A truly distinguished artist and human being, it was a joy to be in the same room with him.

Indeed, it was a joy to be in the room with all of you, the folks of Roosevelt Jazz, as we celebrated what we have and worked to keep it going into the future. The list of folks who donated, decorated, baked, bid, hauled, and performed is so long you wouldn’t even believe it; this was a true community effort. You all deserve a huge hug and a piece of cake.

On Friday, March 30th, Roosevelt’s Jazz Band I will perform at Hot Java Cool Jazz.  Purchase your tickets now from Roosevelt Jazz Boosters.  This annual event, sponsored by Starbucks, is a terrific opportunity to see the top Seattle-area high school jazz bands perform. It’s also a huge fundraiser for our program, thanks to Starbucks’ generous donation of all proceeds from ticket sales to the five selected schools. We hope to see you there!

The show takes place downtown at the Paramount Theater; doors will open at 6pm for this 7pm show.

Starbucks has selected Roosevelt Jazz Band 1 to participate in the 2017 Starbucks Hot Java Cool Jazz event at the Paramount Theatre. Starbucks has been sponsoring this event since 1995 and has raised over $500,000 for local high school jazz programs. We are fortunate to be a part of this amazing event and to live in a community that celebrates jazz.
