The Roosevelt Jazz Band, under the direction of Scott Brown, will perform Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s Jazz Nutcracker with selections from David Berger’s Harlem Nutcracker on Saturday, December 7th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 8th at 2:00 pm. Thank you to John Gilbreath and all the good people at Earshot Jazz, Jay Thomas, Maya Hatch, and the East-West Alliance. We were so fortunate to have the opportunity to collaborate with fantastic musicians from here and abroad. And, we were so glad you came to hear the show. On Saturday, October 27th, Jazz Bands 2, 3, and 4 will perform at the Edmonds Jazz Symposium. A mid-day clinic/concert with Ted Poor and Cuong Vu will be a treat, as will the College Summit and Audition Workshop sponsored by JazzED. For the latter, you’ll need to register by clicking here.

Earshot Jazz Festival
The award-winning Roosevelt Jazz Band performs on Saturday, October 19th at 7:30 pm in the RHS Performing Arts Theatre as part of the Earshot Jazz Festival. Performing with the band is local jazz treasure and this years’ Earshot Artist in Residence, Jay Thomas and the East-West Alliance including RHS alumna, Maya Hatch. Tickets are available through earshotjazz.org and at Roosevelt on the day of the show.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to hear Jazz Bands 2, 3, and 4 perform at the Pathway of Lights at Green Lake, and to hear Jazz Band 1 perform the Jazz Nutcracker at RHS. What wonderful audiences you all were! The bands could feel the love and truly appreciated being able to perform for you. If you want more Roosevelt Jazz, check out our Jazz Night at 7pm, Monday 12/10, at Roosevelt High School. There’s no charge for admission and all 5 jazz ensembles will perform.
