Singers who enjoy jazz will love the Roosevelt Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Students learn to perform standard vocal jazz arrangements and jazz improvisational techniques. Backed by a small combo, the group is open to students in grades 9-12. It stresses teamwork, dedication and harmony. Sight reading and prior vocal performance experience is preferred but not required. The group meets thrice weekly, and travels to festivals and competitions throughout the western United States. Auditions are held in September.
