Happy December, a month chock full of chances to see Roosevelt Jazz musicians out in the community. Our ensembles have been busy preparing, and they are eager to share their hard work and love of this music with you!
Jazz Bands 4, 3, and 2 will perform at the Pathway of Lights at Green Lake on December 8th from 5:30-6:30pm. Look for them at the Aqua Theater stage on the south side of the lake. Bundle up!
After getting your evening started at the Pathway of Lights on the 8th, come on over to the Roosevelt High School Theater. You can warm up at our bake sale and then join Jazz Band 1 for their performance of the Jazz Nutcracker at 7:30pm. If you like what you hear, you can return on December 9th at 2pm to see them do the show again. It’ll be a little bit different the second time around, and seeing it twice will increase your appreciation of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, and the genius they brought to this music. Get your tickets today!
Roosevelt Jazz students will also perform at Candy Cane Lane from 6-9pm on December 13th, one of this year’s Pedestrian Nights at this longstanding Seattle holiday tradition. They’ll be near the traffic circle at the top of the lane. Follow the sound of jazz and you’ll find them.
We hope to see you out there!
