Scott Brown and Clarence Acox Honored with City of Music Impact Award

The two were unanimously decided upon for this award
because of their extraordinary contributions to the education,
enhancement and enjoyment of the City of Seattle's jazz music
scene, according to Laura Brewer, Office of Film + Music for
the City of Seattle. As nationally-recognized educators and
musicians, Acox and Brown have helped shine the spotlight
on Seattle's phenomenal young jazz programs, leading to a
thriving musical community.
As part of this award, the City of Music Awards ceremony honored Brown with
a special Chihuly glass piece, a performance by the Garfield/Roosevelt
All-Star Jazz Band and a 3 minute documentary about the pair's influence in
Seattle.
Last year's award went to KEXP for its work enhancing the city's awareness
of great, local music. The City of Music Awards are decided upon by the
Music Commission, a 21-member organization of Seattle musicians and members
of the music industry who act to advise City Council members as well as
foster music programs throughout the city.
