There is no doubt that this band has etched itself a prominent place within the long legacy of great Roosevelt Jazz Bands. That it won the Essentially Ellington competition in 2007 and laid the foundation for yet another EE win in 2008, certainly establishes this group as a musical high mark and a beautiful reflection of a unique and special time at Roosevelt High School. When you listen to this recording, you'll also come to know that the band's repertoire included a broad range of music from composers other than Duke.
While I could share stories about the dedication, personal struggles, musicianship, quirkiness and character of these young musicians, it's probably best to just let their music speak for them.
The fact is.....they had it Goin' On!

With pride,
Scott Brown, Director
